KARIN GIBSON

Collage artist Karin Gibson is based in Pretoria, South Africa.
She uses thickly mono-and screen printed paper to produce her layered work portraying the natural world or abstract shapes. The monoprints contain multiple layers of textures created by various mark-making techniques executed in oil-based mediums. She studied and taught Textile design until 2019 when she became a full-time artist. Karin has exhibited locally and nationally in Fibre Art and screen-printed textiles.

Influenced by her background in textile design she finds inspiration in form, pattern, colour, texture, expressive linework and mark making. She uses paper collage as a medium because it enables her to juxtapose and layer texture and subtle colour surfaces to create, which would be impossible to achieve with oil and brushes.
