JOSHUA MILES

Prince Albert based artist, Joshua Miles was born in Ceres, Western Cape, South Africa. He studied Graphic Art at Cape Technicon and then went on to the Michaelis School of Fine Art, U.C.T. He then settled and opened a studio in Baardskeerdersbos from which he was a big participant in the Baardskeerderbos Art route for many years. Joshua Later settled in Prince Albert and plans to relocate to Scotland with his Scottish wife and son in 2020.
Joshua Miles has held numerous group and solo exhibitions across South Africa, as well as Australia and Scotland.
His commissions hang in various businesses in South Africa, Community Arts Centre in Scotland and Putney Offices in London.

Joshua is one of those rare artists who has managed to make a living solely from his art. He spent many years painting with oils on canvas but his passion has always been with the reduction block woodcuts.

(Reduction block woodcuts are an edition of prints that are printed from a single block of wood; with each layer of colour added to the print. More of the surface of the wood is reduced (carved away) using chisels to create marks and form the image.)
