John qualified with a National Diploma in Fine Art in 1986 after four years of study. He specialised in printmaking under the watchful supervision of two well known South African artists, namely, Alexander Podlashuc and Leon de Bliquy. Painting and photography were secondary subjects throughout his four years of study.
He also worked as a Medical Illustrator at Groote Schuur hospital for seven years during the 1990’s.
From the year 2000 to the present, John has worked as a freelance illustrator (predominantly children’s educational books), fine artist and semi-professional musician.
John is passionate about oil painting in particular and has been continually active as a painter during and since his Fine Art qualification in 1986.
