GEOFF HORNE
South African artist Geoff Horne is a self-taught realist painter, who paints wonderfully detailed paintings of Karoo and old country towns, portraying their unique South African Cape and Colonial architecture, with Shop fronts often brightly painted and bedecked in colourful signage.
Geoff Horne’s early career was something of a contrast to his current métier as an artist. “I started out in banking and then moved into sales, working in book printing and publishing,” he says. “I’d always drawn, but never had any formal art training.
His paintings have sold on auction at Stauss and Mutual Art. His paintings are widely collected, with some pieces being held in corporate collections of companies such as Afrox, Astrapak, ATKV, Comair, Deutschebank, Rand Merchant Bank, Unitrans, Sasol, Steinhof, amongst others.
