ARTVARK GALLERY is seeking an ASSISTANT/S to start ASAP.

The applicant must be available to work ( on a THURS, FRIDAY and on either a Saturday or a Sunday,

and be able to cover for full-time staff when needed.

Job description ( basic duties )

Welcoming guests, processing of sales at the front desk, general admin, invoicing, email liaison with clients and artists, basic art handling and logistics post sale, responsible for open and end-of-day cash up. Skilled at creating social media posts and reels. Assistance with ensuring the company website is kept current. Creating newsletter campaigns. Ensuring that the displays are kept current, interesting and attractive.

Experience and abilities required / highly favourable skills -

A passion for Fine Art ( Art Degree or similar highly preferable)
Prior experience managing an Art Gallery.
Demonstrable ability to initiate and close sales in a confident and professional manner.
Skilled in social media marketing.
Experience with exhibition conceptualisation set up.
Agility in getting to know the exhibiting artists’ databases, catalogues.
Ability to multi - task, attending to multiple duties as required, with a ‘hands on’ attitude.
Skilled communicator, both in person and online.
Be able to assist in sourcing new art and onboard new artists.
Be able to work well under pressure in a busy environment.
Be a fast learner and be able to learn ‘on the job’.
Should reside locally or be able to commute easily to Kalk Bay.
Must have contactable references.
