DAYNA-GAY TATE

Dayna-Gay Tate, is a Zimbabwean artist living and working in Cape Town. She regards her practice as an intuitive exploration of light, colour and form. She works primarily as a painter and considers herself an abstract expressionist that occasionally leans to impressionistic work.
Considering herself a documentarian, she is deeply moved by her personal experiences in Creation. Her photographs become stored memories that invigorates her curiosity, guiding her creative process when in studio.
Themes present in her work are that of home, light, nature and remembrance. Through this she intends to communicate joy, slowness, playfulness, rest and reconnection.
