BETH LOUW

"Plein air is all about the light effect, the sense of immediacy, the adrenaline rush from being outside"

Beth Lowe is a South African artist who resides in Kommetjie.

Growing up on a farm in the Northern Cape developed her love for the outdoors. She pursued a  BA Fine arts (Ed) at Stellenbosch university. She describes "Catching the light" as one of the joys of pleinair painting. Painting directly from life has become a central focus of her work. A lover of the outdoors, Beth draws and paints wherever she goes. It is nature, and light that informs her painterly style.
With her portable studio, sun hat, linen shirt and apron, Beth cuts a familiar figure all over the Western Cape landscapes.
