Artist Statement.

What has interested me about this coastline is the tidal pools and their shapes : the line of the wall that contains the sea. It becomes a pool of solace and calm into which one can see either  the surface, the reflection of the sky or the depth of the bottom - some days more of the one than the other. 

I trained  at Michaelis and also under Michael Pettit and went on to paint vynbos for rooms at the Vineyard Hotel. The wet on wet oil paint is a slow pondorous process which suited me during these months of lockdown and Covid. The iscolation and quiet was like the pools of water, contained.
