Sue has a degree in Fine Art (Ed) from Stellenbosch University, majoring in painting, and a Masters degree in Educational Philosophy (UWC). She was drawn to ceramics, which provided a sculptural base for her decorated surfaces. All her plates and vessels are hand made and different,  in the interest of pursuing originality and individuality.

She has participated in several exhibitions and received the Corobrik award for Handbuilt ware. She works from her studio in Franschhoek.
