After matriculating Robert joined the air force, where he completed two years training at the Swartskop Air force Base, Pretoria.

He then went on to study Fine Arts at the Pretoria Technikon.  His teachers included Gunther van der Reis, Carl Jeppe and Ian Redlinghuys. He completed his diploma and became a full-time painter.

Robert was based in Johannesburg for a number of years where he would paint during the day and drum, professionally at night in a band.

Stylistically, Domijan is a painter of modern life and his subjects include figurative, portraits and landscapes. He works predominantly in oils but also in watercolour, acrylics and pastels.

“The act of painting is one of the ways to manifest, adorn and celebrate the experience of life in its pleasure and pain. I create paintings and sculptures that are metaphors of my thoughts, ideals and desires. I wish to convey both my conscious and unconscious through ambiguities of abstract and functional forms”.
