GALLERY ASSISTANT DECEMBER 2024

ARTVARK GALLERY is seeking an ASSISTANT/S to start ASAP as the busy Festive Season is here,

to assist with daily tasks at the Gallery, and with ongoing and upcoming Exhibitions.

The applicant must be available to work on both Thursday, Friday, and on either a Saturday or a Sunday,

and be able to fill in for full-time staff when needed.

A knowledge and appreciation of Art is required.

Job description -

Welcoming guests, being responsible for the opening and end of day cash up, processing of sales at the front desk, general admin, invoicing, email liaison with clients and artists, basic art handling and post–sales logistics admin.

Assistance with social media posts and reels.

Assistance with ensuring the company website is kept current.

Creating newsletter campaigns.

Ensuring that the displays are kept current, interesting and attractive.

Experience and abilities required / highly favourable skills -

Prior experience managing an Art Gallery.
Demonstrable ability to initiate and close sales in a confident and professional manner.
Experience with exhibition conceptualisation set up.
Agility in getting to know the exhibiting artists’ databases, and catalogues.
Ability to multi-task, attending to multiple duties as required, with a ‘hands-on’ attitude.
Skilled communicator, both in person and online.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Be able to assist with sourcing new art and onboard new artists.
Be able to work well under pressure in a busy environment.
Be a fast learner and be able to learn ‘on the job’.
Should reside locally or be able to commute easily to Kalk Bay.
Must have contactable references.
