Alessandro is a full time ceramic artist living in Durbanville. He studied ceramic art at the Tygerberg Art Centre, subsequent to which he majored in ceramics at the Boland College in Paarl under the guidance of Dr Ralph Johnson. In 2010 he won the Cellar gallery prize for best 3 dimensional work in the Vuleka Art competition for his work entitled "Mechanical Head". He is currently producing from his studio whilst still assisting his mentor Hennie Meyer. Taking his inspiration from geek culture, Alessandro creates iconic pieces which are both functional, humoristic and sculptural.
